Margaret Raevis Obituary

Margaret "Meg" Reedy Raevis

Fair Haven

Meg was born on All Saints Day (1955) in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She moved to Fair Haven, NJ in the early 1980's and vowed to become a Jersey Girl. She passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 after a valiant battle with several health issues while in the presence of her loving family. She adored her sons and focused her energy on ensuring that all would grow to be fine young men. Her first passion beyond family was gardening and creating a home of impeccable beauty for all to enjoy. Meg's next love was to sit and chat with her close circle of friends at the beautiful Jersey shore while enjoying the sunshine, listening to the crashing of waves and all the while doing some needlepoint.

She is survived by her husband, Jim; three sons, Richard, Jamie and Christopher, as well as her mother-in-law, Pauline Raevis, West Long Branch; brothers-in-law, Robert Raevis, Alexandria, VA; Thomas Raevis, Arlington, VA; brother, David Reedy III and wife, Kathryn Reedy, of Easton, PA; brother, William and wife, Nancy Reedy, of Scranton, PA; brother, Brian and wife, Elaine Reedy of Lehigh Twp., PA; and sister, Sally and husband, George Worsnick of Roaring Brook Twp, PA; as well as numerous nieces a nephew and a granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Joseph Raevis, West Long Branch, NJ; a sister, Mary Alicia "Lee" Reedy; and her parents, David and Mary Reedy, all of Scranton, PA.

To honor Meg's wishes, there will be no viewing. She will be cremated and a memorial service will be announced in the near future for family and her immediate friends. It is requested that all who knew and loved Meg, please plant a flower in your yard in memory of her next spring after the last winter thaw has passed…and yes, she truly did become a Jersey Girl.

John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of all arrangements. Please visit Margaret's memorial web site at www.johnedayfuneralhome.com.

I think of Meg and her family so often. The beautiful gardens we´d all enjoy as we drove past her home. I pray you´re all doing well. I´ve moved away so I think of all of these people if my past and love my memories of all of my FH family. God bless you all.

My sincere sympathy to you Jim and the boys. My Bret went all through school with Ricky, and I remember fondly the first day of Cub Scouts when Meg was the leader. Sweet and shy, I got to know Meg better over the years, and I will miss her sense of humor. See you at the town garden.. Pat Dumas
