AGE: 78 SPRING LAKE
Margaret Mulry Tangeman, 78, of Spring Lake, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, NY. Margaret had a prominent career as a registered nurse, first at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA, then to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, NY, and finally finishing her career at St. Vincent's Hospital in Manhattan. Margaret was the 1st lay person instrumental in establishing the home healthcare system, whereby the Nurse would visit your home instead of visits into the hospital for care. Born in New York, NY, Margaret had lived in Union City before moving to Spring Lake in 1970. She received her Bachelor's in Nursing and went on to receive her Master's in Nursing from Columbia University. As a resident of Spring Lake, she had served as the Treasurer of the Spring Lake Woman's Club and was a faithful Communicant of St. Catharine's and St. Margaret's Parish, Spring Lake. She and her husband Gerald, whom she met on a cruise, loved to visit Manhattan for a show and dinner as often as they were able to.
She was predeceased by her parents, George A. and Mary Kearney Tangeman and her two nieces, Mary and Virginia. They were also predeceased by their loving German Shepherd "Marlie". She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gerald A. Tangeman and her 26 nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call today from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 9:30am at St. Catharine's RC Church, Spring Lake. Burial will follow in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall.
