Maria Monzo, 95 of Tinton Falls passed away peacefully Wednesday March 1, 2017 at Care One, Wall. Maria was born and raised in Vienna Austria.

During WWII when Germany invaded Austria, Maria at the age of 16 along with some of her friends were taken and forced to work in a munitions factory back in Germany. After numerous attempts by her mother writing letters that she needed help at home, Maria was finally released. Two weeks later the factory was bombed by Allied Forces and her friends perished during that bombing. Upon the end of WWII and Allied Occupation of Austria, Maria met her future husband William who was serving in the Army and stationed in Vienna, Austria. They married and she came to the United States and settled in Tinton Falls on a part of William's family farm. Maria worked for Belmar Bra and Girdle for 25 years and then continued working well into her 70's for Abraham and Straus. Maria enjoyed painting pictures, square dancing and traveling with her husband in their earlier years. Maria was an unbelievable cook and baker, also enjoyed preparing many large meals for family and friends. Her passion was spending time with her grandchildren.

Maria was predeceased by her parents, her husband William, 1a brother Hans Spangl. Maria is survived by her daughter Ingrid Tobia of Elberon; two grandsons John Tobia and his wife Jessica of Colts Neck and Anthony M. Tobia of Ocean Township; four great granddaughters, Lisa A., Laurie E., Kyra S. and Nikayla and a host of nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday March 4, 2017 from 4-8 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 7pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Lt. Dennis W. Zilinski Memorial Fund- Service Dogs PO Box 35 Holmdel, NJ 07733.
