Mary "Mae" Kane

AGE: 96 • Seaside Park

Mary "Mae" Kane, 96, of Seaside Park, NJ passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016 at home.

Born June 29, 1919 in Summit, NJ, Mae was a longtime resident of Chatham, NJ and summered in Seaside Park beginning in 1958 until residing full-time in 1991.

Mae was a parishioner of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Seaside Park, NJ and was a member of the church's Rosary Altar Society and former member of Catholic Daughters. She was a former parishioner of St. Patrick's Parish, Chatham, NJ, where she was an active member and volunteer.

Mae was pre-deceased by her husband, Vincent Kane in 2007, her son, Donald Kane in 1991, and her daughter-in-law Doris Kane in 2011.

Mae is survived by her three sons and their spouses, Michael & Linda Kane of St. Johnsbury, VT (formerly of Toms River, NJ), Timothy & Elaine Kane of Hopatcong, NJ, and Peter & Carol Kane of Seaside Park, NJ.

Mae was one of nine siblings, survived solely by Carolyn Ryan of Tuscon, AZ.

Known as "Grandma" to her 10 grandchildren, she is survived by Donald Kane, Leeann Ferrone, Scott Coppola, Jennifer Kane-Morrissey & her husband Sean Morrissey, Rebecca Kane, Melissa Kane & her partner Amanda Meeks, Erica Kane, Peter Kane & his wife Sarah Kane, Michael Kane Jr., Megan Kane & her fiancé Aaron Niebergall, Wesley Kane, and Mikaela Kane. Mae was also known as "Mema" to her two great-grandsons Christian Morrissey and Brayden Morrissey. Mae is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

One of Mae's biggest passions was hosting guests. We welcome friends and family to join and celebrate her life and the thousands of memories and lessons she has given us.

The family will receive friends Wednesday 4-8pm at the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, 809 Central Ave., Seaside Park, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday 10:00am at St. Catharine of Siena RC Church, Seaside Park. Burial is to follow at St. Teresa's Cemetery, Summit, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Mae's grandson, Donny, may be made to the Special Olympics, Attn. Web Gifts, 1133 19th St NW, 12th Floor, Washington, DC 20036-3604.
