Maureen Mansell Obituary

Maureen Mansell

AGE: 69 • Fair Haven

Maureen Mansell, 69, of Fair Haven died peacefully April 15, 2016 at Riverview Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, Maureen attended Star of the Sea Academy and worked at AT&T Bell Labs for several years where she met her husband Jim. An active parishioner of the Church of the Nativity (Fair Haven), she was a key member of the Basic Needs committee and delivered Meals on Wheels which helped many members of our community in their times of greatest need. She was always proud to be an active member of the Fair Haven community. She is predeceased by her loving husband Jim Mansell and her parents Bill and Eleanor Beirne.

She is survived by her daughters, Katie and Alex Shanley of Rumson and Janice and JP Peluso of Fair Haven and siblings Kate and Bill Wigginton, Claire and Bob Fitzsimmons and Kevin and Patty Beirne, all of Atlantic Highlands. She will always be Aunt Moe to her many nieces and nephews in New Jersey, Missouri and Wisconsin. Her pride and joy were her six grandsons Alex, Jack & Brendan Shanley and Jimmy, Teddy, & Tommy Peluso. She loved summer days at Ship Ahoy Beach Club watching them swim in the pool and play in the surf & sand. Every Saturday and Sunday she could be found on the sidelines of one of their many activities. They will always remember her love and support - and chocolate chip cookies.

A memorial gathering will be held Thursday April 21, 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St , Red Bank, New Jersey and a Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday April 22, 10am at the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Basic Needs Committee of the Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

I never met Maureen face to face but I spoke to her often with my work with S.V.D.P. She was a very caring person that worked tirelessly to help people in need. Please know her family is in our prayers.

Katie, Janice and family,
I'm so very sad to read about Maureen's passing. She, as you know, was a huge and meaningful part of my life for a long time.
We had a chance of getting together here in Naples a while back when she was visiting, but she was very busy and our timing just didn't work out.
She will be greatly missed as a mom, sister, grandmother and friend!

Some of my favorite memories are summer days at Edgewater when we all sat in a huge circle. Smiles come back thinking about those fun times.

Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers and may your loving memories of her provide you comfort.

Love,
Bev (Whitaker) Harabedian, Naples, FL
