MICHAEL P. CENTRONE
AGE: 80 WHITING
Michael P. Centrone, 80, of Whiting, passed away Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009, at his daughter's home in Red Bank. Born in Bayonne, he lived in Mystic Island and Florida before moving to Whiting in 2001.He worked in the shipping department for The American Can Company for 28 years and then retired from the N.J. Turnpike Authority after 15 years as a toll collector. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion of Mystic Island, V.F.W. of Tuckerton, Lions Club of Lakehurst, Italian American Club and Knights of Columbus, both in Whiting. He loved watching his beloved N.Y. Giants every Sunday during the football season.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Frieda; two sons, Anthony and his wife Martha of Hazlet, and Michael Jr. and his wife Leanne of Nebraska; a daughter, Michele Ciccarelli and her husband Edward of Red Bank; and six grandchildren, Anthony Jr., Steven, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Douglas, and Morgan.
Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7 and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 at the Carmona Bolen Home For Funerals, 66 Lacey Road, Whiting. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton R.C. Church, Whiting. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences may be sent to carmonabolenfh.com
