Michael Dailey Obituary

Michael Thomas Dailey

AGE: 59 • Holmdel

Michael Thomas Dailey, 59, of Holmdel, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, June 2, 2013, at home after a courageous battle with heart disease and diabetes. Born on May 21, 1954 at Camp Kilmer, he grew up in New Brunswick before moving to Aberdeen and then Holmdel. Michael attended St. John the Baptist Elementary School, St. Joseph High School, Rutgers University, and Rutgers School of Law. He worked in the insurance industry with Lawyers Professional Liability Claims. He delighted in his family, University of Connecticut women's basketball, history - especially Gettysburg, and coaching his sons, Bobby and Brian, in various sports. He was particularly proud of his baseball coaching record at Toomer Field in the Matawan-Aberdeen Little League. In 2004, Michael traveled to China to bring back his daughter, Stephanie. He will be remembered for his wit, sense of humor, and his love for his family.

Michael was predeceased by his father, Robert Thomas Dailey and his brother-in-law, Mark West. Surviving are his wife of 27 years, Kelli West Dailey; two sons, Robert and Brian; and his daughter, Stephanie all at home; his mother, Mary; his in-laws, Edward and Madeline West; his sisters, Christine of Connecticut and Diane Manley of California; his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Sharon of Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Edward West and his wife Joanne, and Stephen West and his wife Suzanne; many beloved nieces and nephews, and his very dear friends, Marianne Murphy, Robert and Jeannine Edelmann, and Dominique Halaby.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 6 at the Holmdel Funeral Home, 26 South Holmdel Road, Holmdel. Michael was a class year ahead of me at St. John's and St. Joe's. I remember being paired with Michael as an Altar Boy many times for mass services at St. John's. He was such a nice person as a grade school and high school friend. My deepest sympathy to his family.

To the Dailey Family-Some of my best memories as a kid were hanging around with Mike, playing sports, and spending hours playing table hockey in our basement. Nothing can replace that. Condolences on your loss, and I wish you comfort in your grief.
