Michael A. Joyce

AGE: 51 • North Asbury Park

Michael A. Joyce, 51, son of Hubert and Dorothy Ketterer, and the late Dr. Martin Joyce, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2011. Michael was raised in Manasquan and was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, N.J. Michael earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree, magna cum lade, with a double major in economics and business finance at Mount St. Mary's University, Emmitsburg, MD. As an undergraduate, he received The Monsignor George D. Mulcahy Memorial Prize for an undergraduate in the university who has distinguished himself in service to his fellow man. Michael went on to receive his Master's Degree in Health Care Administration from George Washington University, Washington D.C. While a Vice President at Underwood-Memorial Hospital, he was awarded membership status by the American College of Healthcare Executives. He was Assistant Vice President at Bayonne Hospital and was founder and director of The Center for Medical Outpatient Detox, Neptune City, N.J. He also sat on the board of the Gloucester County United Way. Michael was past president and member of the Healthcare Forum.

In addition to his parents, Mike leaves behind a loving family; two daughters, Lauren Joyce and Kelli Joyce of Manasquan, two brothers, Martin and wife Therese Joyce, of Easton Pa., Joseph and wife Karen Joyce, of Punta Gorda, Fl., and his sister, Dorothy Joyce, of Neptune City, N. J., and many nieces and nephews.

Private Services were celebrated by college friend, Father Paul Dressler, O.F.M. Cap. at St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan, N.J., with internment at St. Catherine's Cemetery, Sea Girt, N.J.
