MICHAEL ANTHONY PINTO
AGE: 73 SHREWSBURY
Michael Anthony Pinto, 73, of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Mike was a graduate of St. Peter's Prep, Jersey City and St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia. Following graduation from college he joined Price, Waterhouse & Co. for five years before becoming Director of International Accounting for The American Institute of CPAs. When the Financial Accounting Standards Board was founded in 1973, he was its first Director of Finance and Administration. Mike and his family lived in Wayne for 25 years and spent summers in Bay Head before moving to the Shore Area in 1990. While in Wayne, Mike served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Wayne Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wayne Area Foundation, the Passaic County Economic Development Committee and Liberty Homes. He was also a member of the National Association of Accountants, the Garden State Credit Association, and the American Institute of CPAs. He is a past president of the Meadowlands Chapter of the National Association of Accountants, The DePaul High School Parents Association and the Packanack Manor Association. He served on numerous committees of CPA groups and lectured frequently on accounting and business issues. He also served on the faculties of Montclair State University and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Mr. Pinto was pre-deceased by his parents, Michael F. and Pearl Archambault Pinto. Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Terese; their daughter Pamela and her husband, Patrick D. Bonner, Jr. of Shrewsbury and their children, Patrick, Cathleen, Kelly and Brenna; their son, Michael F. Pinto and his wife, Tracy of Fort Mill, SC and their daughters, Haley and Carlee; and their son, Andrew M. Pinto and his wife, Frances of Little Silver and their son, Anthony. He is also survived by his sister, Sister Justine Pinto of Caldwell.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 29 from 3-7pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave., Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 30 at 11AM at St. Anthony's of Padua RC Church, Red Bank. The family suggests memorial donations in Mr. Pinto's name to the Shrewsbury Youth Athletic Association, P.O. Box 7326, Shrewsbury, NJ 07702, or the First Aid Squads of Shrewsbury or Little Silver.
