Mitchell Gum Obituary
AGE: 81 • Brick
Mitchell J. Gum, 81, of Brick, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Plainfield, PA he lived most of his life in Cedar Grove before retiring to Brick in 1985. He was an Army Veteran in the 264 Atomic Artillery Battalion in Germany as occupation troops after WW II. He was the son of John and Marguerite Gum of Cedar Grove. He was a partner with his father John in Taylor's Ice Cream and Restaurant located in Cedar Grove for 18 years before going into private accounting.
He is predeceased by his wife Winnie who passed in 1996. He is survived by his beloved fiancée Betty Litchman, his daughter Dorothy Gum, his son Richard, his grandchildren Maria, Cassandra, Joshua, Madison, Emily and Richard Jr.
Visiting will be Friday 4-8 pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Rd, Toms River, funeral services Saturday 9:30 am at the funeral home, arrive 9:00 am, interment Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers contributions to Disabled American Veterans. www.silvertonmemorial.com
