Norman Graber Obituary

Norman M. Graber

AGE: 91 • Bayonne

Mr. Norman M. Graber, 91, of Bayonne, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, after a brief illness. Norman was born in 1920 in Brooklyn, NY to William and Pauline Graber. From his earliest years, he had a unique mechanical ability and was known as having hands of gold. During World War II, he proudly served as a Yeoman First Class (E-6) in the United States Coast Guard. He served in the USCG from 1942 through the end of 1945 and included overseas service in the Philippines while attached to the United States Navy. After the war, Norman worked in the jewelry industry in New York City and in 1953, started a nearly 40 year career with Maidenform, Inc. of Bayonne, NJ. The years with Maidenform provided a special opportunity to travel to many islands of the Caribbean and also to Mexico where Maidenform factories were being constructed. In retirement, Norman continued to travel with his wife, Diana to a number of countries in Europe and the Middle East.

He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Diana; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey and Henrietta Graber of Ocean, and Dr. Wayne and Ellen Graber of Freehold; his grandchildren, Captain Scott Graber, USAF, Elysa, Marc and Alison Graber; his brother, Lawrence Graber of Long Island; a sister, Ethel Halle of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

Norman was truly a member of the "Greatest Generation".
