Pauline Raevis Obituary
West Long Branch - Pauline Diane Raevis, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, 28 of December 2017 at home. She was born and raised in Manhattan, NY where she met and wed her husband in 1948. Pauline lived in West Long Branch since 1954 in the house that she and her husband had built.
She is predeceased by her parents Sam and Sophie Haluta, husband Joseph James Raevis and a daughter-in-law Megan Raevis. She is survived by her son Jim Raevis (Fair Haven), Robert Raevis (Alexandria, VA), Thomas Raevis (Arlington, VA), grandsons Richard Raevis (Ocean Grove), Jamie Raevis MD (Park Slope, Brooklyn, NY), Christopher Raevis (Fair Haven) and one great-grand-daughter.
She touched many people's lives with her honest perspective and caring nature. Her love for animals was clearly evident in the time she spent over the years volunteering at the Eatontown SPCA.
In accordance with her wishes there was no viewing and all services were limited to immediate family. Her firm belief was that you should be seen and visited while still among the living. A very strong lady, she was a three time cancer survivor. Pauline was interred at Woodbine Cemetery in Oceanport next to her husband. Damiano Funeral Home in Long Branch was in charge of the arrangements. Letters of condolence may be sent through the web at www.damianofuneralhome.com.

I have so many cherished memories of Pauline. A wonderful friend and neighbor to my mom, Anne Brusso, and myself. She and mom would ride around town looking for garage sales, stopping at the thrift store, and having a great time together. Pauline had a fabulous sense of humor, a great love for animals, and a very big heart -- always lending a helping hand whenever she could. My deepest sympathy goes out to the family. Pauline was well-loved, and shall be greatly missed.
