Pete Torakis 75 of Ft Lauderdale, FL died Monday December 21, 2015 at Broward Health Medical Center in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Born in Galata, Greece, he resided in Brooklyn and Toms River for many years before moving to Ft Lauderdale, FL 21 years ago. He owned and operated Torakis Construction in Brooklyn, NY and Torakis Carpentry in Ft Lauderdale, FL before retiring. He enjoyed Greek music, chess and was a backgammon champion. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son, Michael, a brother Haralambos and sister, Kostoula. Surviving are his sons and their wives, Spero & Farrah of Ft Lauderdale, FL and Dion & Denise of Toms River, sister Loula of Galata,Greece and 3 grandchildren, Zachary, Spero Michael and Peter James. Visitation is Monday 7-9 pm at Oliverie Funeral Home 2925 Ridgeway Rd Manchester. Services are 2 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, Toms River.
