Peter Apollo, Jr.

AGE: 85 • Ocean

Peter Apollo Jr., 85, of Ocean, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Riverview Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born and raised in Hoboken to the late Peter and Michelina (Teta) Apollo. He moved to Tinton Falls to raise his family and later to Rolling Meadows in Ocean Township. Peter worked as a Tractor Trailer Driver for Sea Land in Port Elizabeth, NJ before retiring at the age of 50 to be a stay at home Dad for his three children. He attended many sport games, school activities and CCD and volunteered at RBC for many sporting events and fundraisers for his three children. Peter was a member of the Italian American Club in Ocean Township where he enjoyed attending their Monday night dinners. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in the Poplar Village Community. Peter enjoyed spending time with his friends at Rolling Meadows especially spending hours having breakfast or lunch or just friendly conversations on the porch.

He is predeceased by his loving son ,Peter Paul Apollo, who passed away in NYC during 9/11, his twin brother, Paul Apollo, his brother, Anthony Tarrona, and his four sisters; Madeline Spincola, Teresa May, Mary Lopian and Nancy Milne. Surviving is his beloved wife of 53 years, Cecile (Fitzpatrick) Apollo, his two loving daughters; Denise and her husband Chris Mauthe and Lisa Page and and her fiancée Michael Consiglio, his sister, Josephine Radigan, his six cherished grandchildren; Emily and Elizabeth Page and Peter, CJ, Jack, and Avery Mauthe, his nephew, Bruce and and his wife Marie Radigan and their son Joseph and his wife Barbara. Also many nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The family would like to thank the nurses and support staff at Kindred at Home Hospice Care, especially Dr. Wayne Braendle, his Rolling Meadows friends for their love and support, and the Riverview Medical Center Nurses and Doctors who cared for Peter during his illness.

A visitation will be held at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank, NJ 07701 on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 4-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jerome's RC Church, Wall Street in West Long Branch on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent in Peter's memory to the Peter Paul Apollo Memorial Scholarship at RBC, Att. Alumni Association, 112 Broad Street, Red Bank, NJ 07701. I remember Peter as a valued volunteer at Poplar Village for many years. We could depend on him to bring meals to our seniors faithfully every day. He was always kind and most helpful and it is my honor to have known him.
