Quillie Bonner Obituary
AGE: 89 • Neptune
Quillie Bonner, 89, of Neptune, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Meridian Manor by the Sea, Ocean Grove. Mr. Bonner was born in Blakely, GA to Josh Crawford and Alexander Barner and lived in West Palm Beach, FL until joining the U .S. Army and serving in WWII. He moved to Neptune in 1947 where he met and married Cora Jane Toombs. He was a bus driver for Boro Bus Co. and Holiday Travel before retiring in 1990. After retiring, he could be seen selling fresh vegetables on Springwood Avenue. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Addis Adams and Wylene Davis; wife, Cora Jane (Toombs) Bonner; son, Irving (Abdul Kareem) Bonner; and daughter, Karen Strode. Surviving are his children, Renee Freeman, Neptune, Quillie Bonner, Salem, Oregon, and Javon Hernandez, W. VA.; a daughter-in-law, Laurie Hudson-Bonner; brothers, Alexander Tucker, Mt. Prospect, IL, and Lorenzo Tucker, Byron, GA; sisters, Elaine Johnson and Yvonne Barner, Trenton, Henrietta Barner, Hamilton He is also survived by his grandchildren, Louis (Renatta) Showers, Curtis Showers, Neptune, Angela (John) Adams, Farmingdale, Coreen, Keisha and Ramona Bonner, Dineen (Andy) Hills, Kristina (Darrell) Wood, Daniel Hudson-Bonner, Quillie III, all of Oregon, Jenice Bonner, Joshua Hudson-Bonner, N.C., Bridget Haymon, S. Amboy, Regina Strode, Tyrone Strode-Davis, Reginald Howard, all of Asbury Park, Vincent, Daniel and Asjianna Hernandez, W. VA.; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Kathylena (Willie) Simmons of West Palm Beach; a brother-in-law, John Toombs, Florida; and a sister-in-law, Catherine Grant, South Carolina. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3 at the Ely Funeral Home, 3316 Route 33, Neptune.
