Richard Tetley Obituary
- - Richard D. Tetley, 89, passed away in Middletown on May 17, 2018.
He was born in Long Branch to the late Harold and Hazel (Dennis) Tetley.
Richard worked for the US Postal service in Little Silver for 40 years. He was a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Little Silver, a member and former Chief of the Little Silver Fire Department, a charter member of the 1st Aid Squad and a Special Police Officer in town. Richard enjoyed spending quality time with his family, golf, and was an avid Mets fan.
He is survived by his beloved wife Phyllis of 65 years, his loving children and their spouses; Karen DiNocera and Anthony, Robert and Lisa and James and Teri Tetley.
Also, surviving are his adoring grandchildren and their spouses; Cara Varricchio and Thomas, Daniel and Krista DiNocera and Garrett Tetley.
A life celebration will be Sunday, May 20th from 2:00 - 6:00pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Ave, Red Bank, NJ with a Chapel service at 5:00 pm. Internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Richard's name to the Little Silver Volunteer Fire Dept. 480 Prospect Ave. Little Silver, NJ 07739

Just heard about the passing of your Dad. So sorry for your loss. He was such a kind and friendly person. Richie and your Mom were a comfort to Tootie when she lived at Brighton. Our deepest sympathies to you and the family .

Just heard the sad news about Mr "T". I have nothing but fond memories of my many times at the T's ( we referred to it back then as "Tetley Mountain", a nod to the idyllic homey vibes from tv's The Waltons. LOL). I know I'm not the only friend of Jimmy's and Bob's that considered 450 Branch Ave a second home. I will remember Mr. "T" as an immediately kind, generous, interested, fun loving man always quick with a smile.
