Robert Clark Obituary

Robert (Bobby) D. Clark

Ortley Beach - Robert (Bobby) D. Clark, 70, of Ortley Beach, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby was born in Newark, NJ to Ruth Musler and John Clark on May 22, 1950. When he was young, his parents ran "Clark's Restaurant" on the Boulevard in Seaside Heights, NJ in the summer for a few years. His father died when he was 14 years old. He and his mother moved to Millburn, NJ where he went to high school. They eventually moved to Seaside Heights, NJ where his sister Fran opened "Fran's Restaurant" on the Boardwalk in Seaside Park, NJ where he and his mother worked. That is where he met Pam when she got a waitress job there. They became friends and eventually a couple and married in 1981 and moved to Ortley Beach. Their daughter Stephanie was born in 1984.

He adored his daughter Stephanie and supported all her endeavors including her cheerleading years. He looked forward to traveling to Disney World for her cheerleading competitions. Bobby and Pam also loved traveling to Florida and Texas to visit his family; they went on a couple of cruises to Alaska and the Panama Canal which he enjoyed.

Bobby was always a musician, a drummer. Since he was young, he was in a band. In his twenties, he played in the band "The Printed Circuit", years later he was with "Amber Band". They played mostly week-ends in the Jersey Shore area. Later he found his true passion in sound. Instead of being in the bands, he started a sound company which provided and ran sound systems. He worked with the B-Street Band for many years, eventually focusing on events requiring sound systems, including ones at Jenkinson's in Pt. Pleasant and in Seaside Heights. In addition, he also worked part time as a house painter and worked with Endreson Construction for many years.

When he became ill, Stephanie moved back home to help care for her father which was a blessing to him. Our 18 year old cockatiel, Brooklyn, was a great companion and roommate while he was bed ridden. He was a wonderful person who often donated his sound services to organizations such as the Polar Bear Plunge and church events. Always joking and smiling, he was one of a kind - often the chief instigator among the regulars at 3 C's Luncheonette. He will be greatly missed. He passed away from COPD peacefully at home.

He was predeceased by his sister Frances Dunleavy, his niece Bonnie and his brother John Clark. Surviving are his beloved wife Pamela; his daughter Stephanie; his niece Mary Ann Maxwell and nephew John Clark; his sister-in-law Janet Lane and husband William; and brothers-in-law Stan Szymczak and wife Wendy and Father Richard Milewski
