Rocco R. Maimone

New Brunswick - Rocco R. Maimone, 91, of New Brunswick, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in San Pier Niceto, Sicily, he was raised in New York City before moving to New Brunswick, where he resided most of his life.

Mr. Maimone proudly served his country both as a United States Merchant Marine and later in the Army where he served during the Korean War. He was a very creative person. Upon moving to New Brunswick, he started a bicycle repair shop. A skilled builder for many years, he later became an entrepreneur in various other endeavors, including owning a dry cleaners in New Brunswick. In addition to being an avid boating enthusiast in his early years and a skilled chess player into his 90's, Mr. Maimone had varied hobbies and interests that always challenged him creatively. He enjoyed watercolor and acrylic painting, carpentry, mechanics, cooking and sculpting. His unconventional approach to all aspects of life truly made him a unique person to know and love.

He was predeceased by his parents Rosario and Josephine Maimone, as well as his beloved wife Mary C. Maimone in 1997. Suriviving are his children and their spouses: Russell Maimone and Carlene of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Rocco Maimone and Toni of Boca Raton, FL, and Josephine Kane and Stephen of Middletown, NJ; nine grandchildren: Daniel, Gabriel, Isabella, Joseph and his wife Genna, Kerri, Marissa, Nicole, Rocco and his wife Lisa, and Shari and her husband Robert; eight great-grandchildren; as well as his sister Antoinette Marchetta of New Brunswick.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 13 at 10 am at St. Peter's Cemetery, New Brunswick. Arrangements are entrusted to Boylan Funeral Home, New Brunswick.
