Schelli Kay Cain

Schelli Kay (Mielke) Cain, 49, of Hastings, (recently moved to South St. Paul) passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013.

Schelli was born Aug. 15, 1964, to Frederick and Marion (Bathen) Mielke in Rochester. She married Timothy Cain on Jan. 9, 1982, and made Hastings their home for many years. She worked at Northwest Airlines for 19 years and most recently worked in the accounting department at Fabcon in Savage.

Schelli enjoyed many things, especially losing herself in a new book, cooking or spending time with her friends and family. She also enjoyed playing sports such as softball and volleyball, and kept herself active through running and walking with friends. She was a loving wife and an amazing mother. She loved to talk about how proud she was of her son, Steven, the Air Force officer, and her daughter, Danielle, the future law school graduate. Her most recent joy was becoming a future grandmother, and what an amazing one she would have been. She also loved to talk about her granddogs, Winston, Bailey, Alex, Drake and Lily.

Schelli will be missed by all who knew her. She touched many lives and brought laughter to many more. She was never afraid to make a joke and bring a smile to someone's face. She was a special kind of woman who definitely left a mark on the lives of all those close to her. She left us all too soon.

Schelli was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Mielke; her brother, Steven Mielke; her father-in-law, James Cain; her grandparents, Harold and Pearl Bathen and Leonard and Arlene Mielke; and her grandparents-in-law, Arthur and Mae Cain and Henry and Clara Goebel.

She is survived by her husband, Tim Cain; her son, Steve Cain and wife, Monica; her daughter, Danielle Cain and boyfriend, Patrick Paur; her mother, Marion Liedahl; her brother, Michael Mielke and wife, Kristi; her sister, Debra Crary and special friend, David Kohs; her sister, Kristine McCoy and husband, Rick; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., in Hastings, Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a funeral service and time for sharing to follow at 7 p.m.
