AGE: 83 • Fords
Stephen J."Pete" Dalina, 83, of Fords, passed away on October 5, 2013 at JFK Medical Center, Edison. Pete was born in Keasbey and lived his entire life in Fords. After college, Pete served in the US Coast Guard. He was the former owner of Dalina's Tavern in Fords, Ex Chief of the Fords Fire Company, Woodbridge Township Council President and Middlesex County Freeholder Director. He also was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church, Fords.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Eleanor (Kociban), his sons: Gary and his wife Elizabeth of Fords, John and his wife Ruth of Phoenix, MD, Richard and his wife Carol of Fords and Stephen and his wife Susan of Monroe Township. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Catherine Satterthwaite, Sean, Christine, Kevin, Katelyn, Stephen and Jayson Dalina; his great-grandchildren: Evan and Hailey.
Funeral services will be held 9:45 AM on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Flynn and Son Funeral Home, 23 Ford Ave., Fords with a 10:30 AM Funeral Liturgy at Our Lady of Peace RC Church, Fords. Interment will follow at St. Michaels Cemetery, Hopelawn. Viewing hours will be, Monday 7-9 PM and on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Endowment Fund, 26 Maple Ave., Fords, NJ 08863. It's been a while since I've been back to Fords but have great memories of the Dalina family; Little League parades and the like. I recall passing their house on Maxwell Avenue and Cross Mills Road probably hundreds of times. Our condolences to the family. Best to Fords!

To the Dalina Family,
On behalf of my entire family we would like to extend our deepest sympathy on the loss of a great man.
I will never forget the friendship I personally had with Pete especially during my emp0loyment years with Middlesex County. He was a great leader and more important gentleman tobanyone who spoke to him.
He was always active in the community and even as a freeholder he never forgot the basics that got him to office as the longest serving freeholder in the county.
I pray for his soul and may God grant him eternal peace.
Unfortunately because of other committments I will not be able to attend services for him but please know my familie's and my prayers are with him and all of you.
