Susan St. James, 69, of Bradley Beach, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She was born on Nov. 19, 1943 in Glen Ridge, raised in Bloomfield, she was a 1961 graduate of Bloomfield High School. After a short time in California, she settled at the Jersey Shore. She worked at and remembered fondly her days at Mort's Port in Neptune and the Old Mill Inn in Wall.

Susan was a pet lover and was devoted to her cats, Pumpkin and Charlie. She was a knowledgeable and accomplished gardener and loved the annual ritual of turning her backyard into a flowering heaven. She was a charitable environmentalist and supported Green causes. She loved the sights, sounds and majesty of the Atlantic Ocean and when able, spent time walking on the beach. She was an avid lottery player.

She is survived by her son, Michael I. Zamonski of Manhattan; her mother, Jean T. St. James of Bradley Beach; two sisters, Anne St. James of Huntington Beach, CA, and Barbara Trees of Manhattan; and a brother, John St. James and his wife Nancy of Wall. She is also survived by a niece, Lauren C. St. James of London, England and two nephews, Christopher E. Mertes of Huntington Beach, CA, and Michael J. St. James of Hoboken. She is also survived by her cousin, Roseanne Ketchow of Middletown; and her good friends, Bob, Shirley, Tami, Gail and Beth, all of the Jersey Shore. Susan was predeceased by in her father, Pat J. St. James in 1978.

A private memorial service was held for Susan at her home on Sunday, May 19. The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, any donations be made to the Jersey Shore University Hospital, The American Cancer Society or the Epilepsy Foundation. Arrangements by Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home 2652 Highway 138, Wall. Arrangements included cremation.
