Thomas Gregory Murphy

Thomas Gregory Murphy, 63, of Rochester, died May 27, 2014, of natural causes in New York City.

He was born on May 9, 1951, to John W. and Alice C. (Lonergan) Murphy in Rochester. Born and raised in Rochester, he was a graduate of Lourdes High School and Arizona State University. He was the Lourdes High School golf coach for 29 years, earning six state championships. He was a member of the following Hall of Fames: Minnesota Golf Coaches, Lourdes High School Foundation and Rochester Quarterbacks Club.

Tom owned and operated Dooley's Lounge, McMurphy's Sports Bar, Aquarius and now Dooley's Pub. 

He is survived by four brothers, Peter (Linda) Murphy, Robert (Patricia) Murphy and Joseph (Wanda) Murphy, all of Rochester, and Mark (Theresa) Murphy, of Kissimee, Fla.; two sisters, Sheila (Herb) Townsend, of Rochester, and Mary (Mark) Morse, of Hudson, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald Murphy, Richard Murphy, James Murphy and John Murphy Jr.

A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester on Tuesday, June 3, 2014, with the Rev. Msgr. Gerald A. Mahon officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday and from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
