Tommy Tang Obituary
Eatontown - Tommy "Fu Han" Tang, 100, of Eatontown passed away on Sunday, February 4. 2018. Born and raised in China, Mr. Tang worked with the Merchant Marines before coming to Eatontown and opening Tang's Chinese Restaurant in Eatontown, then Tang's Chinese Restaurant in Red Bank and finally New Tang's Chinese Restaurant in Belmar, before retiring in 1990. Mr. Tang served many their first Chinese meal in Monmouth County, also taking the secret of his homemade duck sauce with him to his grave. Mr. Tang was predeceased by his first wife. Mona Tang in 1987. He is survived by his loving wife Helen "Hai Ping" Tang, loving children Kwong Hai Tang and his wife Xiu Hua, Mae Lee Tang Gilroy and her husband Phil, Timothy Tang, and Mae-Lin Tang and Mae-Yung Tang. Cherished grandfather of Jack Tang, Wei Tang, Crystal Bell, TJ Tang, Philip Gilroy, and Asia Grace Gilroy; and 5 great-grandchildren. Family and friends may gather at Braun Funeral Home, 106 Broad Street, Eatontown on Wednesday February 7, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Burial will be private. I was born in Riverview Hospital Red Bank N.J. 60 years ago. I had Tangs Chinese since I was little starting in Eatontown and NEVER ever in all my years had any that could compare! I have some of my best childhood memories from this wonderful family! Mai Lee I know you will remember "the Torchio family". We had a big round table reserved at Red Bank location almost ever Sunday! My sixteenth birthday was catered by Tangs! THE BEST!!!!( My family still talks about it! OMG, That shrimp toast, Mr. Tangs sauce, I can go on and on! And the stories, My Dad would call "Tommy from the kitchen ,he'd run out with that apron on and my dad would say "Tommy I want whatever you're going to eat" We (all four kids and my mom) would laugh and couldn't wait to see Big whole fish, and amazing Masterpieces! My mom is 95 and to this day we say how much we miss "Tangs" Thank you Mr. Tang and family for all the Great Food and Great Memories!

Best food ever! Have not had decent shrimp toast since Tang's. Mr. Tang and Mona were the sweetest people. My mother enjoyed working for them back in the day. Rest in peace Mr. Tang. You touched and blessed many lives.

My very first Chinese meal was from Tang's in Eatontown long ago before they moved to Red Bank. So many meals and every one incredible but most of all Mr. Tang with the smile and always welcoming. RIP Mr. Tang you have so much of our love and respect.
