William Conover Obituary

William E. Conover Jr.

AGE: 73 • Manchester

William E. Conover Jr., 73, of Manchester, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011. Born in Neptune, he lived in Freehold Borough for his entire life, just recently moving to Whiting. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a graduate of Mercer County Community College. Bill was an assistant manager for Verizon for 25 years before retiring. He was an Exalted Ruler and member of the Freehold B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1454, a former captain and president of the Freehold First Aid Squad, and a former council president and councilman for the Borough of Freehold for 10 years.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Lori Ann Edgar. He is survived by his wife, the former Alice Lykes; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Nancy of Lake Forest, Ill.; his daughter, Colleen Conover of Whiting; three brothers, Gary (Barbara) of Barnegat, Alan (Susan) of Freehold Borough, and Russell of Middleton, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Freeman Funeral Home, 47 East Main St., Freehold. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Freehold. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, Freehold. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the Freehold First Aid Squad.
