William Haupt Obituary
AGE: 93 • Manchester
William "Paul" Haupt, loving husband of Helena Pesano Haupt, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Hans Harold Haupt and Grace Wilhelm Haupt in Wilmington, Delaware. Paul graduated from Carnegie Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Engineering Corps in Burma in World War II. He retired from Bell Labs and was a Telephone Pioneer. He was an active member of the Lincroft Volunteer Rescue Squad for over 15 years and was a member of their 101 Club.
Paul is survived by his wife, Helena; three sons, Paul Haupt of Red Bank, NJ, Geoffrey Haupt (Suzanne) of Jacksonville, NC and Erik Haupt of Bryn Mawr, PA; two daughters, Catherine Cheshire (Robert) of Seattle, WA and Barbara Haupt of Bryn Mawr, PA; one step daughter, Louise Pesano of Ocean Township, NJ and one step son, Michael Pesano of Versailles, KY. Paul was blessed with eleven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his first wife, Eleanor Collins in 1970; two brothers, George Haupt (Patricia) and Harold Haupt (Joanne); and son, David Haupt; step-son, Thomas Pesano.
Arrangements will be handled by Thompson Memorial Home in Red Bank, New Jersey. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 2nd, 7:00-9:00 PM at St. Mary's Church, 1 Phalanx Road, Colts Neck. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 3rd, 9:00 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations in his memory to the Foodbank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties, 3300 Rt. 66, Neptune, NJ 07753 or online at www.foodbankmoc.org.
