William Mattern Obituary
Forked River - William M. Mattern, age 89 of Forked River passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2021 at The Pines at Whiting, Manchester. William was born in West New York, NJ and was formerly of North Bergen before moving to Forke River in 1995. He was an Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. William was a longshoreman working in Hoboken. He was a member of the Lacey Elks and Moose Lodge and a communicant of St. Pius X RC Church, Forked River. William loved vacationing at Point Pleasant Beach where he would get his tan on with his Nivea Cream.
William was predeceased by the love of his life, Anna Ressler and his daughter, MaryJane Ressler. He is survived by his sister, Marion DePiano and many nieces and nephews.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 4:00 pm until time of service at 6:30 pm at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9, Forked River, NJ 08731. William and MaryJane will both be interred on Friday at 11:00 am at Flower Hill Cemetery, North Bergen, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Pius X RC Church, 300 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731 in Willie's Memory.
