Yvonne Reid Obituary
AGE: 61 • Tinton Falls
Yvonne J. Reid, 61 of Tinton Falls, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. Born in Long Branch, she was raised in Shark River Hills and had lived in Wall Township for many years before moving to Tinton Falls 9 years ago. Yvonne worked as Activities Director for The Sycamore in Shrewsbury, where she was devoted to her residents. Known for her kind heart and generous spirit, she was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
Yvonne was a spiritual person with a very positive and upbeat outlook on life. She loved music, most especially Springsteen and The Beatles. While nature and the beach brought much joy to her heart, nothing made Yvonne happier than time spent with her family, most especially her cherished grandson Alex.
She was predeceased by her parents Robert G. and Daisy Lopez Reid, her brother David Reid and sister Mary Reid Chapman.
Surviving is her husband and longtime companion Kenneth J. "Pepper" Martin and his family; her son Greg Matarazzo, Jr. of Red Bank; her daughter Amanda & husband Justin Hanke and their son Alexander, all of Red Bank; her brother Steven Reid & wife Kim of Neptune City; sister Kim Volante & husband Thomas of Bradley Beach; sister Linda Siciliano of Tinton Falls; brother Robert G. Reid of Bradley Beach; and many nieces & nephews.
All are invited to gather with the family and share their fondest memories of Yvonne during the Celebration of Her Life, held at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy. 35, Wall on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 12 - 4pm.
In lieu of flowers, Yvonne's family specifically requests donations be made to Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research, 1820 W. Webster Ave Suite 304, Chicago, IL 60614. Envelopes will be provided by the funeral home on Friday.

Yvonne, the dearest and most important friend I have ever had, and will ever have. I fortunate to have wonderful friends, but there will only be one Yvonne. You will be with me in my heart always.

To Yvonne's Family,
Today I was at Brandywine to perform for the residents. After entering the facility and beginning to setup for the show....when Keith approached me and asked if I heard about Yvonne's passing. I just saw her in May. I couldn't hold back the tears and shock and sadness, and disbelief all together took over. Yvonne has been hiring me for over 14 years. She was absolutely "THE BEST!" Personality Plus TLC and the ability to know what people needed. She knew how to keep everyone happy. As an entertainer for Brandywine, she was an absolute pleasure to work "with." She will really be missed and not only by the residents and staff but by those of us who have known her through the years. There is no way to convey my condolences except to say that I will ALWAYS remember Yvonne as a beautiful woman with a loving heart. Brandywine has lost one of it's most dedicated and caring people. To all the family my prayers and thought are with you at this sad time. I'm sure Yvonne will be watching over all of us who have known her here. And, her grandson of whom she was so happy with will now have a special guardian angel to be with him always. God Bless Yvonne and all the family.....may eternal light shine upon her!

My parents Rae and Charlie , lived at the Sycamore and chose it because of the wonderful staff (family) they had there. Yvonne had a smile in her eyes, my parents loved her and I know she loved them. I met Yvonne when we were both 5 years old! She was the sweetest cutest little girl. Fast forward to adulthood and there you were living up the street from me. You continued to be the sweetest and nicest person anyone could know. Condolences to the family and sending healing thoughts. She will be dearly missed. Goodbye old friend.

Although I only knew Yvonne a short time, I quickly learned what a kind woman she was. I remember the time we worked together to transplant the marigolds and she helped me transplant my own plant. She will be truly missed and can never be replaced.

my heart is heavy to learn of Yvonne's passing. I knew Yvonne for nearly 7 years when she was so kind to my aunt at the Sycamore. She was a very special lady and was the sweetest person in the entire facility . She always saw the glass half full and it showed in her remarkable personality.

A true example of how one should live. Though I never had the opportunity to get to know her better. I was struck by her humility. She was humble and modest. While so many of us scramble to be in the spotlight Yvonne was happy to shine it on us.
For me that's what made her stand out even more!
We will miss her at Brandywine.

We just spoke last week. I am not ready to say goodbye. You were part of our Activity Director circle. I always enjoyed comparing notes about our families. We talked about your wonderful husband, daughter, and grandson Alex. We laughed and spoke about what our plans were for Assisted Living Week. You loved the residents and they loved you.
