Charles Childers Obituary

Charles Dean "Chuck" Childers, 74, of Marysville, CA, passed away with family by his side May 18, 2022, at Mercy San Juan Hospital in Carmichael, CA.

Chuck was born the first of six children to George Sr. and Hildegard (Klinger) Childers in Nurnberg (Nuremberg) Germany August 19, 1947.

Chuck lived in many countries went to several different schools growing up as an Army brat. The family settled in West Linda, CA, in 1963, after his father's military retirement.

Chuck graduated from Marysville High School in 1965, interested in photography, football and R.O.T.C. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps serving from 1965 to 1971. While in the Marines, Chuck did 3 tours of Vietnam earning several bars and medals including the Purple Heart.

After his service to our country Chuck traveled, attended Yuba College, Chico State and held several jobs. His job as bartender in the Yuba Sutter area for 30 plus years stands out the most.

Chuck has many dear friends and family that love him very much and will remember him as the "Good Guy!" There was nothing he would not do for anyone if he could without even being asked. He will be missed by many!

Chuck is predeceased by his parents, George Sr. and Hildegard; youngest brother, George Jr.; youngest sister, Angela; and brother-in-law, Michael Matthews.

He is survived by sisters, Helga Childers, Heidi Thomason (Larry); brother, Gary Childers (Kathy); six nephews; and two nieces; and several grand and great-grandnephews and nieces.

Honoring Chuck's wishes there will not be any memorial services.

He only wanted all to remember to love more, help when you can and to be proud to be an American!

Special thanks to all the nurses, doctors and hospital staff that have been there for Chuck at Rideout, Vibra, Mercy Hospitals and the VA.

Any donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

No better friend, a quiet hero who always put others first. As a member of Force Recon, he could never talk about what he had done or where he had been....but for his fellow Marines, he was a Marine's Marine....the best of the best.
The world will be a darker pace without you my brother.
Love, respect and condolences to your family.

We joined he Corps together and went through boot camp together, then you went one way and I went off to missiles and stuff. Tried to track you down over the years but, as we moved up and down the state a lot, was never able to make contact. You will be missed, dear friend! More than you know.
