Charles Stanley "Charlie" Dorsey

1936 - 2021

Charles Stanley "Charlie" Dorsey, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on October 28, 2021, at the age of 85. Dedicated husband, dad, grandpa, and community servant.

Charlie was born on June 25, 1936, in Clarksville, Maryland, to Grafton and Louise Dorsey. He was raised by his beloved grandmother, Daisy McCracken, and was blessed to grow up on the family farm.

After graduating from Lisbon High School, Charlie enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. He successfully earned a 20 year career in aircraft maintenance for the SR-71, serving during the Vietnam War and earning an Air Force Commendation Medal.

Charlie's second career was spent at MJUSD for 19 years, starting as a school bus driver and retiring as the Transportation Supervisor.

Charlie coached little league and umpired many years for the Olivehurst-Linda Little League. He was a member of the Marysville Elks Lodge, Yuba City Moose Lodge, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he donated many hours and support to his community.

Charlie leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Edith Dorsey; his sons, Charlie Dorsey Jr., and Larry Dorsey; his brother, Phillip Dorsey; grandchildren, Tessa Dorsey-McAleer, Terry Dorsey, Anthony Klemp, and Leah McAleer; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Charlie is also survived by his daughter Trish's best friends, and his "Charlie's Angels", Charlotte Young, Connie Coughlin, Donna Davis, Joann Standiford, and Lisa Russell.

Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Patricia (Trish) Dorsey-Klemp; his parents; his two sisters; and his brother.

We are comforted knowing that Charlie is with family and friends awaiting our arrival with open arms.

A Celebration of Charlie's Life will be held on Saturday, at 3 PM on November 13, 2021, at the Moose Lodge, 205 S. Walton Ave., Yuba City. A private burial will be held at Sutter Cemetery.
