I got a little worried when the Christmas card I sent to Jack was returned. I searched his name online and there was his smiling face looking back at me. I am sad to learn of his passing. I was introduced to Jack and Norma Jean at a SF Giants game close to 40 years ago by a mutual friend, Richie Ashburn. I felt like I was adopted. I would sit with them at the games and Norma Jean would always have an extra blanket and sandwich, just for me. After Norma Jean passed, I would still hang out with Jack at Candlestick or AT&T Park whenever the Phil's were in town. I had dinner with him one night when I was in Marysville attending a wedding. He attended by 55th birthday party. We would touch base when there was a natural disaster in our areas (1989 earthquake, 1997 floods). The last few years were contact by Christmas cards and an occasional telephone call. Norma Jean and Jack were tremendous people. I picture them back together, with Richie!, watching a baseball game or commenting about Nebraska football. Fireball Kelly will be missed.

Peg O'Malley

Mr. Charles as I called him, was a wonderful person, who would always greet me and people we saw on our walks with a "Hey Pal, how are you doing?". He was a man who left a mark on the lives he came in contact with. I am blessed for having known this wonderful man. I did not know him long but one thing I did learn is that he was very proud of his family and their accomplishments.
I will miss you Mr. Charles, heaven gained a good man.

Charlie Kelly was one of the finest Civil Engineers I ever met at Cal-Trans. His common sense approach to the myriad daily problems and issues encountered in Construction activities was a pleasure to behold. I shall keep him in my heart forever.

Mr. Kelly provided me with a lot of things in my early years that i have always been grateful for. He welcomed me into his house, and showed me what a true christian man was. He loved his wife and children so much! He taught kindness, patience, understanding, acceptance, Gods love, and most of all, hope for the future. He did all this with grace and a great sense of humor.i always felt safe and happy in his home. That man loved his wife so much! No wonder, to this day I still remember her chocolate chip cookies. Charlie never knew all that he did, or then again, maybe he did. He just let me follow him around and talk. I thank him for that. I give him credit for my christian beliefs today. I thank God for putting his daughter Debbie and him in my life. I have wonderful memories of the Kelly family and they will always be in my heart. Rest in peace Charlie, I'll see you in Heaven.
