Charles Wiles Obituary

Charles "Chuck" Blymiller Wiles passed away peacefully on January 4, 2026, in Oroville, CA.

He was born on January 11, 1933, in Zanesville, OH, and grew up in Lancaster, OH, where he graduated from Lancaster High School in 1950.

Shortly after high school, Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1953.

It was during this time in the Navy that he met the love of his life, Erna Arnett. Together, they shared more than 50 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, family, and friendship.

After his service, Chuck attended Ohio University, graduation in 1960. He went on to enjoy a long and respected career in the title and escrow business, serving families and businesses throughout Yuba and Sutter Counties.

Chuck believed strongly in giving back to his community and did so in many ways. He served as President of the Yuba City Kiwanis Club and as President of Sutter Buttes Little League, roles he took great pride in.

One of Chuck's greatest joys was officiating high school sports in the Yuba-Sutter area. He loved being part of the games and the athletes' lives, especially on the football field, which was his favorite sport to officiate, though he also enjoyed baseball and softball.

Chuck also devoted time to the Y Indian Guides, creating meaningful memories with young people and fellow volunteers.

Chuck valued camaraderie and fellowship and was a member of ECV, SIRS, and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time, he embraced life with enthusiasm and adventure, particularly on the ski slopes.

An avid and accomplished snow skier, Chuck skied Mount Hood and Mount Bachelor, pursuits that brought him both joy and lifelong stories to share. He loved the game of golf.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Erna Wiles.

He leaves behind family who loves him deeply, his daughters, Linda Barclay (Glenn), and Mary VanderYacht (Mark); sons, John, and Tom Wiles; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and his dear friends, James and Diana Guess.

Chuck will be remembered for his warmth, dedication to family and community, and his genuine love of life.
