Bruce Bergholz Obituary
Bruce Roger Bergholz - son of Lois and Roger Bergholz, and brother to Brian and Andrea - known to those who love him as "Bushka" or "Bear", peacefully passed away on March 25, 2026.
A man of quiet humility and a great sense of humor, Bruce was a joyful presence in the lives of his family and friends. A natural athlete through and through, he excelled in baseball and track, and was also a starting small forward and co-captain for the Rocky River Pirate basketball team. He stood 6 feet tall by sixth grade, looking more like an adult, not to mention a bit like Eddie Haskell!
While earning his degree at Ohio University, he took a semester off to travel the country with his best friends Paul Rowe and Greg Foley in a renovated Press truck named " Gimme Shelter." But what really defined Bruce was his devotion to his family, as evidenced by his recent celebration of 50 years being married to his wife Becky.
As a father to Tyler and Trevor, he was a dedicated "sports Dad" and coach, who also shared with them a deep love for cool cars, classic rock and roll and wire haired fox terriers.
For 42 years, the beach on Hilton Head was his "happy place" to hang with family, friends, a cooler of cold beer and tunes, inevitably prompting a chorus of " Looking good Billy Rae" followed by a reply of " Feeling good Louis!"
Lastly, Bruce loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, finding ultimate peace in the promise of Psalm 23:" I will dwell in the house of The Lord Forever."
Bruce is survived by his wife Becky and sons Tyler (Adrienne), Trevor (Mara), granddaughter Isla, sister-in-law Suzie (Brian) Bergholz, brother-in-law Danny (Andrea) Brojstan, sister-in-law Mary Coulter, nephew and nieces Brandon, Jessica, Heather, and Melissa.
In keeping with Bruce's fun loving spirit, the family will hold a celebration of life at a later date in Hilton Head. In the meantime, raise a glass, play your favorite tune, and remember a man who truly knew how to live, as evidenced by one of his oft-cited quotes - " Life Is Good!"
Please leave memories and condolences for Bruce's family under "Share a Memory".
