Dale Berry Obituary

Dale Wesley Berry, 57, of Colusa, passed away at his home August 19, 2009. He was born on December 18, 1951 to Daniel Wesley Berry and Betty Ann Woods. Dale resided in Colusa his entire life. He attended Colusa schools and graduated from Colusa High School in 1970. He went on to attend Yuba College and graduated in 1974 with an AS Degree in Law Enforcement. Dale worked at Colusa Hospital as an orderly, at Sunsweet Dryers, and as a caretaker at the Colusa Cemetery. Dale was a member of the Charity Baptist Church and had attended there over 5 years. He was very active in the church and dearly loved the people of the church. Dale was also very active in the Colusa County Behavioral Health. He had been a member of the Colusa County Mental Health Advisory Board since 2003 and was a Chairperson and a Vice Chairperson during his terms on the Board. Dale was also a member of several of the Support Groups at Behavioral Health and held positions in those groups throughout the years. Dale was instrumental in starting the Caring Enough to Overcome support group in 2002 and Safe Haven, the drop-in center at Behavioral Health, which is a place for persons to go during the day just to hang out. Dale is survived by his mother, Betty Ann Woods of San Jose, siblings Steve Berry (Linda) of Colusa, his twin brother, Dean Berry (Linda), of Colusa, Chuck Berry (Karen), of San Jose, Polly Perkett (Allen), of Santa Rosa, and Doug Woods (Lori), of San Jose. He was also survived by many nephews and nieces and grandnephews and grandnieces. Dale married Kathleen Waugh in 2004 and although they later divorced, they remained close friends and companions. Dale is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Wesley Berry. Graveside services will be held Monday, August 31, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at the Colusa Cemetery on Wilson Ave., followed by a reception at the Charity Baptist Church on Wescott Rd. in Colusa. www.mcnarymoorefuneralservice.com Send & Read Condolences at www.appealdemocrat.com
