Daniel Joseph Dirks, 62, of Yuba City, passed away on September 2, 2018 after a nine month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born February 15, 1956 in Marysville and was a lifelong resident of Yuba City.

He was a 1975 graduate of Yuba City High School. At 18 years old he met the love of his life, Patty and they married October 21, 1978. A year later he opened his own business, Dirks Welding. He continued to weld and create works of art until the end. He did commercial harvesting of prunes and pistachios for many years and his favorite hobbies were collecting old cars, tractors, insulators and much more. He faithfully attended Sunday swap meets, Edsel conventions, tractor shows, insulator swaps and walleye fishing in Canada with his buddies.

He is survived by his wife Patty of 40 years, Precious daughter, Brittany Dirks-Barlow, son-in-law Josh Barlow, twin grandchildren Levi and Lillian Barlow and grand-dog Woody all of Yuba City, his siblings Raymond, Harold, Daryl, Mary, twin sisters, Priscilla and Cynthia and twin brother, David.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Helen Dirks of Yuba City and infant sister, Judith.

Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at 7th and C Street in Marysville on Friday, September 7th, 2018 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Museum of the Forgotten Warriors at 5865 A Road, Marysville, CA 95901 or a charity of your choice.

I was sadden to hear of Dan's passing through someone in town. Dan was my neighbor and what a kind, good natured guy. He went out of his way to help me no matter what the task. A real stand up guy with a good heart. He reminded me a lot of my dad, full of knowledge but quiet unless asked, would go out of his way to help someone in need and always greeted you as you were passing by. He will be truly missed.

Liz and I are so very sorry. Forced to say goodby brings up so many emotions and memories. Though he sees death daily Our loving Father is not insensitive. Feeling our pain he provides strength and comfort, and assures that the dead will live again in a new world where death pain and sorrow will be no more.....

Danny will be missed, a Man of Men he was we all went to Arbuckle once a month for the Firemans Feed great brotherhood we enjoyed. He made some custom branding irons for my moms ranch so glad I have one. Gods speed my friend. Watson

Danny was one of the most creative and interesting people I have ever met. He built many projects for me over the years and each job was perfect. I will miss going to his shop and him showing me his latest treasure he had acquired. He will be greatly missed. Our condolences to the Dirks family.

Myself and my Dad Roy really enjoyed Dan and all his fishing buddies coming to Minnesota and off to Armit Lake in Canada to fish every spring. I enjoyed visiting with him (listening mostly)and he will be missed. I know he was a good friend to us. It is a hard time for the family and I wanted you to know that he has left many good memories and laughs that will stay with us. Any of you or his fishing friends are welcome any time. Danny was one of three men I consider a genius. I learned so much from him about things that you would never learn in a book or a class. Self reliance, wit, and fortitude, to name but a few. Cannot express my sadness and grief in words. So much knowledge has left us all. Seeing the Jag in the picture below, I watched him rebuild it when I was younger. I remember him telling me about a time that he and Patty went up to Nevada City for a special time, and they came back after dark and drove across Parks Bar with the top down at full tilt boogie and he said the sound that Jag made was deafening. Godspeed Danny, and may the four winds blow you safely home. If you see my dad, hit him up, he will get you a stiff drink. MvQ
