David Roland Geyer

David Roland Geyer passed away at home on September 16, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 73. Dave was born January 24, 1943 in Sacramento, California. He lived in the Sacramento valley all of his life except during his service in the U.S. Air Force from 1961 to 1965. David was a Vietnam Veteran, who was proud of his military service, but very quiet about his war experiences.

He completed junior college and went on to work for Pacific Gas and Electric for the next 40 years ultimately as a corrosion expert. After retirement Dave owned a Pizza parlor and always loved to barbecue. One of his favorite past times was to spend time with family and friends over a meal. He and his wife Doris, spent several years traveling the country in their motor home and simply enjoying life and each other.

Dave had a very generous heart and volunteered his time and money to several organizations. He was a consistent volunteer, past Governor and Fellow at the Yuba City Moose lodge 1204 until he suffered multiple strokes that left him partially paralyzed. He was also a devout member of the Crossroads Community church and supported their community projects, such as of the Clothes Closet and Joshua house. Dave remained faithful even when his health continued to fail.

Dave is survived by his wife Doris, daughter Health Geyer, step children Jenny Francis (Joe), William E. Smith Jr. (Terra), Jonell Kosa (Jon), Mike Cook and multiple grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Karma Sams (Jack) and nieces and nephews. Along with a multitude of friends.

Dave is preceded in death by his son Kurt who passed away from leukemia in 1983,. Along with his parents, Evadna and Roland Geyer, sister Mariel Kpyeke and his nephew Roland Sams.

Dave touched many lives and he will be truly missed by his family and friends. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday September 24, 2016 at 11 am at the Crossroads Community Church, Yuba City. The graveside service will be held on Monday September 26, 2016 at 10 am at Sutter Cemetery in Sutter. Friends and family are invited to attend either or both services.
