David McKean Obituary

David Leslie McKean peacefully passed from this world January 8, 2023, at the age of 86. He will be missed greatly and will always hold a place in our hearts.

David was born on September 4, 1936, to Violet and Frank McKean in Exeter, CA. The family moved to Cotati in the late 40s, where David attended local schools and earned an AA degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. He later transferred to Sacramento State University, was a member of Omega Chi Delta fraternity and graduated with a degree in Business. He was hired by GE Capital Corp and was quickly transferred to Chico, CA.

David married Marcia Bishop and began a family of three lovely daughters – Susan, Leslie and Elizabeth.

Once returning to Sacramento, David began his true calling – Real Estate. He became a top salesman and Broker – eventually owning a Real Estate School and along with his college partners, pursued many other sideline careers throughout the next 50 years.

David was a runner, tennis player, back packer, avid reader and teacher along with his partner and love of the last 30 years, Judie Jacoby. Together they created a real estate holding of a dozen homes, all of which they totally remodeled and presented to young families for rent, starting in the late 90's and continuing through today.

David and Judie traveled extensively throughout Europe, Mexico and Hawaii and enjoyed entertaining family and countless friends in their Yuba City and Tahoe homes.

Over the last 20 years, you could find David walking the track at St. Isidore Church before the sun came up, accompanied by various walking partners – including his dog(s); Annie, Charlie, Candy and most recently, Everest.

Give David a newspaper (The Wall Street Journal or The New York Times) and he was a happy camper. He loved visiting his daughter-in-law's classroom, along with his current 'golden' …. Often showing up in crazy hats. He is remembered well by the many families who were blessed by his presence as a Hospice volunteer.

David is survived by his loving wife, Judie Jacoby; his three daughters, Susan Ronkowski (John), Leslie Cunningham (Mike) and Elizabeth Wills (Sandy); Judie's son, Jeff Jacoby (Kristi); 5 grandkids; and 1 great-grandson. David considered all his and Judie's kids and grandkids as family.

A Celebration of Life will be held later this year.
