Gary Anderson Obituary

December 18, 1937 - July 15, 2025

Gary Edward Anderson, lovingly known as "Andy" passed away peacefully at the age of 87 in Yuba City, California, on July 15, 2025.

He was born on December 18, 1937, in Yuba City, CA, to Hiram Foster and Joyce Cochran Anderson. At the young age of two, Gary experienced the heartbreaking loss of his father and brother. He and his mother eventually moved to Marysville, CA, where Gary would spend the majority of his life and build a legacy filled with love, laughter, and family.

Gary attended Marysville High School, where he met the love of his life, Joyce Fisher. They married in 1957, and went on to share 68 beautiful years together.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Joyce Fisher Anderson; their two sons, Ronald Edward and Mark Anthony Anderson; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James and Donald Anderson.

Gary began his long and dedicated career with PG&E on March 4, 1959. One of the greatest joys of his career was working alongside his son Mark from 1978 until Gary's retirement on October 1, 1993, after 34 years of service.

Know for his generosity, patience, and kind spirit, Gary was always ready for a good time and a hearty laugh. One of his favorite sayings was "You have to be able to laugh at life." More than anything Gary treasured the time spent with his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Moose Lodge, Yuba City, CA, from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. The Anderson family invites all who knew and loved Gary to join in celebrating his life. Please come ready to share your love, stories, and laughter in honor of the joy he brought to others.

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to everyone who supported Gary's well-being over the years. Your kindness and care meant the world.

To the Anderson family...our sincere condolences upon the the passing of a very loved man. Gary and I started our relationship in 1978..Gary was one of the troublemen I called frequently to respond to a electrical transmission problem during my early days as a Transmission operator at Table Mt Sub..after that, he was one of my go to guys after I transfered to Marysville as a D.O...He then became my foreman after I transfered into the line dept.. Full circle, especially working with his son Mark. I also had the privilege of building a house with son Ronnie. Thanks for the memories and to Joyce for enduring that bunch.
