Geraldine Haskell Obituary

Geraldine S. Haskell, known fondly to her family and friends as Gerry, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025.

Gerry was born in Redding, CA, February 8, 1935, the third of three daughters born to Gerald A. Shearin, and Luella M. Shearin.

She spent the first seven years of her life in Redding before moving to Yuba City, CA. Her family moved a year later to Marysville, CA, where she spent the remainder of her youth, attending both Marysville Grammar School and High School.

She remained a Yuba-Sutter resident for over 75 years before moving to Santa Rosa, CA, in 2019.

She graduated from Marysville High School in the class of 1952, and subsequently enrolled in Yuba College.

However, before graduating from Yuba College she accepted a position as the secretary to the manager of the Marysville Savings and Loan.

A few years later, she went to work for the Yuba County District Attorney as his executive secretary. She worked for the District Attorney until the birth of her first child in 1960.

Upon the birth of her first child, she decided to be a full time mother and homemaker to focus raising her two sons, which included active involvement in numerous children's activities, and clubs.

Once her boys were old enough, she went back to work part-time and continued her love of secretarial work until she retired in 2018.

Gerry and her late husband, Coburn, were avid art enthusiasts and collectors, outdoorsmen, and particularly loved fly fishing throughout the United States and many countries.

Gerry is survived by her loving sons, Jeffrey (Arnaldo) Mondon and Gregory (Janette) Mondon; stepsons, Alexander Haskell and Eric (Jeffrey) Haskell; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; seven step-great grandchildren; one step-great-great grandchild; and three nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Coburn "Cobe" Haskell; her parents, Gerald A. Shearin and Luella M. Shearin; and her two elder sisters, M. Darlene Stottlemyer and Phyllis L. Holmes. She was 90.

A public viewing will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City, CA, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM.

A graveside service and interment will take place at Sutter Cemetery on Friday, June 27, 2025 at 11 AM.

A Celebration of Life event will take place at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Inc.

Gerry was married to my father, Cobe Haskell. They adored one another and were loving companions during their many travels and expeditions. I am so grateful for Gerry´s care and love for my father near the end of his life.

A wonderful lady and friend to many. I first met Gerry in the 1950's as she was in the same MHS class of 1952 with my sister Carolyn Livermore. Then our life paths crossed many times. To her family I send my condolences and heart felt sympathy.
