Gian Kaur Bains

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Gian Kaur Bains, a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, on September 26, 2025.

To all who knew her, she was more than family, she was a guiding presence, a source of comfort, had a heart that welcomed everyone and loved to celebrate big. Gian's love extended beyond the walls of her home.

She embraced all with kindness, turning strangers into friends and friends into family. She treasured life's simplest moments, holding thousands of memories close over her seventy-eight remarkable years.

Born on March 30, 1947, in Dhakowal, Punjab, India, Gian made Yuba City, CA, her home for over sixty years.

In that time, she became a pillar of the Sikh community, embodying the values of seva, selfless service, humility, and compassion. Her life was defined by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Gian is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Mukhtiar Bains (Sukhvinder Bains) and Harkirat Bains (Kuljit Bains); five adoring grandchildren, Devan Bains, Samuel Van Dusen, Arik Bains, Puneet Bains, and Prabreet Bains; and her brother, Harbans Thiara Sr.

She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Mota Singh Thiara and Puran Kaur Thiara; beloved husband, of fifty-six years, Balbir Singh Bains; cherished son, Prabjot Singh Bains; and her brother, Satbir Singh Thiara.

Services in honor of Gian's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 12 PM, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA.

Following the chapel service, the Antam Ardaas and Sehaj Paath Bhog will take place at Sri Guru Nanak Sikh Temple, Bogue Road.

Though she has departed from this world, Gian's spirit, love, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
