John P. Sammons

John P. Sammons, 88, passed away on November 13, 2013 at Prestige Assisted Living in Marysville, CA. He was born on May 29, 1925 in Paintsville, Kentucky to Martin and Hulda Sammons.

John lived in the Yuba County area for 50 years, after he served his country in the United States Navy for twenty years. He fought in both World War II and the Korean War. He retired as a Boatswain's Mate First Class. After his navy retirement he worked at Beale AFB as a Civil Service Supervisor. Retiring from Civil Services at the age of 55 John traveled with his wife and spent time hunting, fishing and walking his dog(s).

John married Loretta in 1967. They were married for 36 years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting and animals.

John is survived by his spouse Loretta of Marysville, CA. His son Kenneth (Millie) Sammons of Livermore, CA, his step-daughters Margie (Bill) Rollins and Cindy (Sam) Stassi both of Marysville, CA; his brother Edsel Sammons (Betty) Sammons, Sanibel, Florida and his sister Mary Ruth Sammons, Westerville, Ohio. John has six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his two brothers, Henry and Martin Sammons; his four sisters Lucy Johnson, Edna Price, Nancy Daniel and Eunice Sammons.

A special thanks to the staff at Prestige Assisted Living Expressions, for caring for John during his Alzheimer's disease the last 22 months. Your love and care for John will always be cherished.

A private burial will be held.
