Jolene Owens Obituary

Jolene Owens, passed away peacefully with her family beside her in Roseville, California, on March 22, 2024, at the age of 82.

She was born on March 16, 1942, to Melvin and Ella Fern Herrick in Yuba City, California.

On July 14, 1984, Jolene married Bradley Owens. Together, they raised their five children from prior marriages and built a life filled with love and joy.

Jolene was a homemaker and an accountant who held a life-long love of cooking. She and Brad met at a gourmet cooking class and she could often be found perusing her favorite cookbooks.

She never let her multiple sclerosis define her; both she and Brad traveled often well into the 2010s, usually to visit their far-flung children and grandchildren.

Jolene was also a devoted daughter, visiting her mother in Yuba City, California, every week until her mother's death in 2022.

Jolene is survived by her husband, Brad; her five children: Dean Crowhurst (Evelyn) of The Woodlands, Texas, Jana Pettengill (Mick) of Kansas City, Missouri, Nichola ten Dam (Martin) of Roseville, California, Ryan Owens (Brooke) of Garden Grove, California, and Nancy Gilmore (Dan) of Crownsville, Maryland; her eight grandchildren: Hershey Bell, Matthew Crowhurst, Shaina Horka (Michael), Jessica Pettengill (Brice Brenneman), Devin Pettengill, Chase Pettengill, Zoe ten Dam, and Elexis Owens; and her eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Samaya Karen Epstein of Lucerne, California, and Linda Elyssia Herrick (David Scheiber) of Ashland, Oregon; her sister-in-law Bev Toring of Moorhead, Minnesota; and her former sisters-in-law Marnee Crowhurst of Sutter, California, and Marcine Crowhurst of Bridgewater, Connecticut.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at The Solarium at Timbers at the Lodge in Sun City, 7050 Del Webb Blvd, Roseville, California.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (nationalmssociety.org) or to the Estelle Peirano Crowhurst Memorial Scholarship (checks can be mailed to 930 Acacia Ave, Yuba City, CA 95991.)

Brad, Please accept my most sincere condolences over the loss of your sweet wife. I met her a few times when she would accompany you to some of our luncheons. Jolene was so kind and thoughtful always asking if she could help and curious about how I was doing.
May she rest in peace.
