Lona Lahore Obituary
She was born January 22, 1920 in Texas, the only child of John Henry and Lennie Boydston. Her dad was a skilled auto mechanic and mom a seamstress. At the age of 3 the family moved to Santa Ana, CA, where she attended high school, later earning a business degree.
She married the love of her life, Robert Pouchon Lahore on May 15th, 1941. After the war Robert started his Beauty shop in Santa Ana, where they built a home. Lona worked as a bookkeeper until the birth of their son, Raymond Byron Lahore.
After reading a Sunset Magazine article about the Sierra Foothills, they moved to Challenge, where they purchased a wooded property with a partly completed home. Although apprehensive about moving away from their family and friends, Lona supported her husband and their decision to move. She quickly became active in the community, as a member of the PTA, a charter member of the Yuba Feather Historical Society and the Redbud Garden Club and other various groups.
Always active, Lona and Robert loved to travel and spend time with their son Raymond and many varied friends. She loved life and was a voracious reader, especially murder mysteries. A talented artist, she was known for all her china paintings and more.
Lona was pre-deceased in death by her husband Robert in 1986 and her son Raymond in 2007.
She leaves behind her beloved border collie Maggie, who was here constant companion and several distant cousins. She will be sadly missed by her loving and devoted caretakers of the last years of her life, Pam Silva, Robin Murphy, Anna Travis and Alica Buelna, as well as her loving friend Michael Bernier.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 23 at the Brownsville Cemetery followed by a potluck at the Brownsville Lutheran Church.

I will miss Lona so much I remember when they moved to challenge, that was about 60 yrs ago. She always looked so nice and a big smile for everyone.The whole community will truly miss her!!
