Lu, Lu, Lu...Sooo many memories! So many great times- playing pool and watching Spinal Tap over and over and over. Only you could get away with going to the movies BARE FOOT since shoes were "over rated". Life is too short! Someday we'll meet again. Until then I'm glad to have good memories!

Lu, We loved you from the first time you went on vacation with our family. We will always remember boating on Clear Lake. The wild rides you gave us in our ski boat. The sunburns, the laughs, the fun. Just the start of your life entwined with ours. We will always love you and remember your smile. We fondly remember you every day. We miss you . All our love Mom & Dad V.

Lu was so personable, the minute you met him you were at ease because knew he was genuine and just a cool dude. I worked with him at Apple and always looked forward to hanging out with him outside of work. A good man who will never be forgotten.

I knew you before I knew my sister. I remember your house in Oakland. I remember a lot of adults speaking loudly, when we had our own secret world, and our own secret language the adults didn’t understand. Maybe your kids now speak to each other in that secret language. You lived so that they could live, so they could share the magic of childhood as we did. And your parents—who were parents of the highest order, carried, their sense of the primary importance of family across the ocean untarnished. Your love for and your loyalty to your family friends was a great gift. Thank you.

Lu,
I didn't know you that well myself but, I know what a great friend you were by the way Jeff talks about you. All of the great stories he and all of your friends have speak volumes to the kind of person you were. What I do know about you is the wonderful and unique way you made people feel comfortable and welcome. You made me feel that way the first time I met you and everytime I saw you. I always knew I would get a big welcoming hug from Lu. I will miss you.
I am glad you are no longer in pain and I am grateful you were a part of my life. Rest in peace and God bless your family.

"Time Flies" as the old adage goes and it's unbelievable how fast the last twenty years of our friendship, and especially the last year, have gone! I am so thankful that your pain and suffering are finally over. You dealt with it and handled it in the same cool, calm, and deliberate way you have lived your life. You are a true champion! I am so thankful to have been your friend and to have spent numerous times together at ball games, concerts, golfing, boating at the lake, or just chill'in watching tv or listening to music. There are so many movies and tunes (with bass) that will remind me of those cherished times. You will never be forgotten and will always be loved and missed!
Love, Put

Lu,
You were my original carpool buddy! I remember the first day I showed up at the carpool spot and you hadn't told any of the other guys that I would be joining you. Awkward for sure, but it all worked out and I made some great friends. Thanks for your friendship, laughs, and excellent company in traffic. I'll miss you.

Lu,
I can't possibly put into words how you have impacted my world in this life. It seems insane to think of the road ahead without you...although as I told you before we can never really lose each other. Our friendship and love is forever. Not a day will go by that you will not live in my heart.
Enjoy the other side, cuz.
Until we meet again,
All my love,
Rachel

Lu,

Because of you, I’ve enjoyed more love, laughter and libations than I ever thought possible. Yes we had fun, but it was your quiet strength that truly inspired me. I am a better man for having known you and despite my deep sadness, I can’t help but smile when I think of those final moments – you were surrounded by people who loved you, with Sports Center playing on TV. Somehow, I think that’s just the way you would have liked it.

Rest in peace my old friend and know that you are loved and that you will be missed.

Dear Lu,
Your contagious smile said it all: your love of friends and family, your healthy disposition, your love for life. Everyone you ever came in contact with couldn't help but love you. And everyone knows that you loved them too. You embraced people like no one I have ever known.
I could not feel more honored from having the privelege of knowing and learning from you. What I know is that you represent the greatness in all of us. And what I learned is that if you ever want to feel inspired, you call on Lu.
I am grateful that your pain has ended, my friend. Your legacy will live on for eternity, and I commit to doing my best to carry your greatness to everyone I know.
I love you man.
Eternally,
Eric

It's tough reading these beautiful entries from afar and not being able to be there for the service. I was re-connected with Lu after several years of wondering where he and all of our mutual friends ended up. I found Lu first, and he in turn directed me to everyone else. I was able to have an email relationship with him and in turn, share stories with everyone else during his final days and for that, I will always be grateful. Lu had a style and flair ( and fashion sense) that drew so many to him and gave us years of memories and stories to share and pass on.
Rest in peace my friend and know that you’ll always be in our thoughts.

Dear Uncle Lu,
You were a great person to have around in my childhood and made a wonderful rolemodel that I could look after. Even at such a young age I could tell that you cared for me and loved me as if I were family. I regret not being able to come down and see you recently, yet my heart went with my parents and you know that. I can only hope to be as stong of a man as you proven to be while fighting through what you did. All my love you to and your family. REST IN PEACE MY DEAR UNCLE LU!!!

Luhago was 14 when we met! I still think of him as a teenager because that's when we spent the most time with him...I have so many memories of crazy, fun times hangin' out, Youth Group, Youth trips, retreats...playing games, fun times and serious times. So glad we got to see him January 2007 before returning to Ecuador...I am so sad thinking that he is not with us anymore this side of heaven. I can only imagine the pain you all feel. But my hope is in knowing that his struggle is over and he is livin' the good life...eternal life...this is real living...to know Jesus...that was posted on a sign at a Bible camp we went to in California during those Youth Ministry days...and it's still true...may you, his family, know the truth of those words like never before in your lives...to know Jesus is the way...the truth...and the life!
We love you in South America...
