Marian Van Wechel Obituary


Marian Frances (Smith) Van Wechel, passed away peacefully in Avon, Indiana, on January 29, 2021. She was a longtime resident of Yuba City.

Marian was born in born in 1947, in Lebanon, Indiana. She married William Van Wechel in 1969, and moved to Yuba City in 1977.

While living in Yuba City, Marian was an active part of the community. She was an original founder of the Yuba Sutter Youth Soccer League and was a charter member of the Iota Sigma chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. Marian worked as a mathematics teacher at Yuba City High School for 20 years.

Marian had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger. There wasn't a place she went where she didn't eventually meet a new friend. She will be dearly missed by family and friends.
She is preceded in by her father and mother, Milburn and Mildred Smith.

Survivors include her husband, William Van Wechel; son, Dave Van Wechel, daughter Amy (Van Wechel) Gallagher; brother, David Smith; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

In accordance with Marian's wishes, a private graveside service will be held at 1pm on February 5, 2021, at the K and P Cemetery in Lizton, Indiana. The services can be viewed via the funeral home's Facebook page: Eric MD Bell Funeral Home in Pittsboro, Indiana.
