Michael Weiss Obituary

Michael N. Weiss, "Mouse" as many affectionately called him, passed away January 30, 2022, at the age of 77.

Born in Park Falls, Wisconsin, he graduated from Park Falls Lincoln High School where he developed his love of athletics. He played football, basketball, track and American Legion baseball in summers. After high school he went on to study Accounting in Wausau at Northern Technical Institute. It was in Wausau he made several life-long friendships.

After his time in Wausau, he joined the Air Force. He met his wife of 43 years, Marie when they were both stationed in Karamursel, Turkey. After 20 years of service, he retired as a proud Vietnam veteran.

As a long-time resident of Olivehurst, Mike worked for numerous years in the area Ace Hardware stores. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight of Council 1869. Until recently, he enjoyed cooking for many of their functions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene (Choate) and Norman Weiss; and his daughter, Rhonda Duff.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; a son, Mike Weiss of Wyoming; and a daughter, Brenda Whittaker of Olivehurst; and his two sisters, Jean (Jerry) Strop of Colorado, and Sue Szymik of Minnesota. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, four whom he raised, Jessica, Julie, Jaclyn, and Jaime; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike loved sports, especially the Packers, donning facial hair, eating, holiday gatherings, and above all else, spending time with his wife and family.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at 11:00am. Private burial will follow at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery.

Was wondering why I have never heard back from Mike. Been trying to contact him last couple years. Even sent email to Marie. Sorry to hear about his passing, I had some competitive and fun times with him, from Park Falls where we competed against each other, and Wausau, where we were team mates, winning a basketball championship. May he rest in peace. Gary Graham
