Mr. Thunen! "TuneDogg" I cant believe you are gone! I always thought I'd see you in person again, shake your hand and thank you for being such a pivotal person in my life. I would love to speak with you again and hope to be able to do so somewhere, sometime in whatever the next level is that you are experiencing right now, Heaven I'm sure. This so saddens me. You were the best teacher ever, one who cared, listened, understood, reached us, made us care, taught us, made us laugh, think, and become better people. Thank You Always, for everything!

Mr. Thunen could set me straight without embarassing me. He knew how to get through to us students, keep us straight and teach us at the same time. I remember most about him was his animation of this deer leg he had in his classroom fridge. He pulled on the tendon that stuck out the top; so gross! He really knew how to make us laugh. I'm so very sorry to hear of his death. Mr. Thunen, you and your family will be in my prayers.

To his family - Mr. Thunen was a great teacher. He was my teacher for two years, one of those I had a pleasure of being his aid. He made it so much fun, but made me love biology more. Although it has been almost a decade since I've seen him in high school, I will never forget him. He was the funniest, most honest people I have ever met. My deepest condolences to his girls, he will be truly missed.

To Amy and the girls and the Thunens,
I am so sorry for your loss. Phil was loved by many people and he will be missed by all.
I grew up on Celestial Way and remember Phil running around the neighborhood- he was about 6 years younger than me.
When we reconnected at Hiram Johnson 10 years ago we talked about Yuba City, my brothers, his family and other stories that only Phil could tell so well. Every fall I eagerly anticipated the bountiful walnut harvest that Phil would share with his friends at Hiram Johnson
I love you and miss you Phil,
