Richard Ray Obituary

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Gridley- Biggs Cemetery for Richard H. Ray, 89 of Gridley, California. He passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Biggs-Gridley Memorial Hospital in Gridley of natural causes. Richard was born October 19, 1921 in Gridley, California. He was a life long resident of Gridley having worked as a mechanic most of his life. Richard attended local schools graduating Gridley High School Class of 1938. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and Korea. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making metal crafts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma and 1 son, Randall Ray. Richard is survived by 2 sons: Colin Ray of Phoenix, AZ and Steven (Betty) Ray of Yuba City, CA; and 1 daughter, Patty (Gary) Winfrey of Gridley, CA. He is also survived by 1 brother, Norman Ray of Las Vegas, NV; 1 sister, Willina Cushman of Redding, CA; 7 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren. Pastor Rick Cunningham of First Baptist Church in Gridley will officiate at the services. Inurnment will be held at Gridley-Biggs Cemetery. Contributions to the Gridley High School Music Department, 300 E. Spruce Street, Gridley, CA 95948, are suggested by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Gridley- Block Funeral Chapel.
