Ronda Kay Barney

Ronda passed from this life on Wednesday morning, October 4, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born on June 6, 1955, to Glen and Beverly Barrington at Gridley Biggs Hospital.

Ronda lived her entire life in Northern California and the last 35 years in Yuba City. She entered nursing early in her career life as did her mother before her. She spent many years compassionately caring for others before redirecting her focus to fire fighting, and then administration at Lake Minden.

Upon retirement, she spent her time spoiling her grandchildren and a host of cats and kittens. She tackled many home improvements and enjoyed carpentry, demonstrating her skills by replacing her roof and remodeling her kitchen.

Prior to her employment at Lake Minden, she showed her strength and determination by training for over a year to become a wilderness firefighter. She accomplished that goal and was hired as one of the first women in this very dangerous profession. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed as fiercely as she loved, and is loved.

Ronda is survived by her beloved mother, Beverly Owen. She was the loving wife of Kevin Barney, the nurturing and generous mother to Christina Adams (Andy), Julie Heller (Bryan), Sean Barney (Raquel) and Jake Barney. She was a treasured sister to Lani Walters (Ron), Debbie Lansdon (Greg), Tim Owen, Diana Barrington, Phyllis Williams (Chris) and Stephanie Santiago. Ronda was a most devoted and doting grandmother to her many wonderful grandchildren, Haley Martinez, Darian Adams, Samantha Adams, Payton and Robert Heller, John, James and Samuel Barney.

Ronda was preceded in death by both of her fathers, Glen Barrington and William "Bill" Owen; and her brothers, Benny Owen, Randy Barrington and Larry Bergman.
