Stanley Zirion Obituary

5/1/1948 -2/13/2025

Stanley "Ray" Zirion, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully in his sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication to his family.

Ray was born and raised in the small mountain town of Clipper Mills, CA. A man of strong character and unwavering work ethic, he spent his life as a logger and painter, trades that he mastered with pride.

Ray was truly the salt of the earth, honest, straightforward, and known for saying what he meant and meaning what he said. His no nonsense attitude was matched only by his deep love for those around him.

In his younger years, Ray worked alongside his family in their store, learning the value of hard work and community.

After serving his country in the United States Army, he returned home to marry the love of his life. Together, they raised three children in Strawberry Valley, CA, where Ray's commitment to family was clear in everything he did.

Later in life, Ray moved with his family to Oregon House, where he continued to build a life rooted in love, hard work, and integrity. He was a devoted father and husband, and his passing leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew him.

Ray is preceded in death by his loving wife, Dawn; brother, Kirk; and parents, Charlie and Myra.

He is survived by his children, Dale (Chanapa), Leila (Patrick), and Heather (Erik); grandchildren, Phillip, Mark, Kyle, Olivia, and Sebastion; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Judy; sister-in-law, Pam; cousins; nieces; nephews; and many dear friends, all of whom will remember him as a man who gave of himself without hesitation.

He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the memories and hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.

A shared service will be held in honor of Ray and his wife, Dawn, on February 22, 2025 from 2 PM to 6 PM, at the Alcouffe Center in Oregon House, CA.

Stanley R Zirion
The news of Ray's passing is very sad to learn. He was such an amazing person, and a great neighbor. He was a very hard worker and skilled at many things. The kind of man who would stand up for what was right, and stand by your side. The last time I saw Ray was when he helped load my truck when we moved to Sparks NV. He was a bright light !

Ray and I grew up together, grammar school, high school, both went to Viet Nam ( Army) shared an apartment together over the family grocery store in Clipper Mills, we fought forest fires together, ran around together, I was his and Dawns best man in his wedding. Ray ended up living Oregon House, and I live in Sioux City. My wife, Jean and I have stayed at their home a few times. After Dawns passing, we were on a driving trip to the West Coast, when another life long friendship, Leroy Newell, called me and told me Ray had a stroke. Jean and zi drive straight to the hospital to see him. As the years went by we ( it just me where I came out by myself) visited Ray. This very good friend. We talked often on the phone, checking on each other. I miss Ray. But I am confidant I will see him again, in heaven. We had many talks about heaven, Jesus, salvation. The last time I saw Ray was at his house in Oregon House, having dinner.. after dinner Ray told me that he accepted Gods gift of salvation through Jesus. I am confidant that I will see he and Dawn in heaven one day. I Pray for his wonderful family . This man of integrity and great resolve has left us, but I´m looking forward to that reunion on High!

The Claypool Family

We have known the Zirion family for many decades. They feel like family. Ray was our favorite of the boys because he was a carbon copy of his wonderful father Charlie. Funny and somehow serious, loving and caring he will be missed, but we know we will all meet up again.
