Wilbur Menth Obituary
Wilbur Joseph Menth passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at his home. Joe, well known as "Sno-Joe", was born on July 31, 1939, in Yuba City, California, to Henry Wilbur Menth and Eunice Elizabeth Bender.
Joe was a resident of Live Oak for 79 years. He first started his mechanical career at Hust Bros., Inc. In the early sixties he started his own business and worked with his father on the family ranch.
Joe's specialty was working on diesel engines and manufacturing. Those that knew him say he could put anything back together and make it work. "If you don't know, call Joe!" His business thrived for over 50 years.
Joe was an avid snowmobiler. He loved riding the trails with his family and friends. He also raced snowmobiles with his son, Kane Menth and the Black Widow Race Team.
His love for racing started at the old Live Oak Speedway in Stock Cars. Anyone who attended races in Live Oak new the Champion Joe Menth #73. Joe advanced into Super Modified race cars and extended his adventurous spirit into racing his flat bottom boat "Big Bully".
He loved his children and grandchildren very much. He enjoyed watching them in all their activities. Giving referees a hard time at basketball games was another of his specialties.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Eunice Menth; and sister, Joyce Benzel.
He leaves behind his sister, Marylin Smith of Yuba City, CA; son, Joseph Kane (Shawna) Menth of Gridley, CA; daughter, MacKensie Elizabeth (Shawn) Dewey of Olivehurst, CA; four grandchildren, Lorenza Menth, Joseph Menth, Kameron Menth and Gracie Holt; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be remembered for his big heart and boisterous laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Joe's honor on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 4:00 p.m., at Jakes Bar in the Butte County Fair Grounds, 1299 East Hazel Street, Gridley, CA 95948.
